Confession....I hate cold weather.  This is not a big confession if you know me well.  If you don't know me well, you are probably wondering why I ever agreed to move to Maine.  Ha!!

I actually LOVE seasons, all of them, just the colder ones from the comfort of my preferably (very) warm home.  I love snow.....if I don't have to touch it.

Dylan, on the other hand, LOVES cold, northern climates and has jumped right back into it with open arms.

We tend to work together really well.  For instance, I love burning wood in the wood stove, and Dylan really enjoys splitting and cutting wood (or at least he loves it to be finished, so he does it really well....and fast).  Another great example; I very much dislike deep snow in places I have to walk (although I love deep snow in other areas...as long as I don't have to walk in it).  Dylan LOVES shoveling snow.  See how it works out? And that's only a few examples.

The kids are very much enjoying their first Maine winter.  Kade (our oldest) lived in Madison, WI for 4 years of his life, and has very much missed snow and cold the 4 years we lived in Louisiana.  The two little ones have lived in Louisiana all of their lives (we moved there when Eilah was only 3 months old).  All of the kids LOVE the snow...and the ice rink Dylan built...and just being out in it in general.  It is pretty impressive, actually.  Luckily, the did not inherit my southern blood...as they have the ability to stay warm and have fun.

I take them out to play in the snow during the day, and skate on the ice rink.  There are rules...like "no throwing snowballs at mommy!" and "don't go too fast when i'm holding your hand on the ice because I WILL fall!".  They have taken to these rules pretty well, and all in all, we have had a great first few months in the snow and cold!

Tomorrow's high will be something like 16 degrees.  Not very excited about that.  But I AM excited about the wood stove, and tons of wood outside.....and the e
