So most folks know that corn comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and ....... Flavors.
No not like cotton candy or bubble gum flavored, just corn flavor, but the array of sweetness is quite different. We chose this year to grow three different corn varieties. A sweet white corn, a bicolor sweet corn and an open pollinated non-sugary enhanced variety. Of the three the open pollinated ripened first..... So we offered it to our CSA members and sold some to customers at Mill Park Market in Augusta. I am writing this blog to explain this corn.
Some folks may be thinking..... Gosh, 47 daisies grows really bland tasting corn....... Nope... I can tell you the sweet white corn that we had for dinner tonight is definitely sweet and tasty. So for those of you that had the open pollinated variety first, don't despair..... The sweet stuff is here and will be for the next few weeks.
Come and see Harmony at Milll Park on Tuesday and Gardiner on Wednesday and try some of the sweet white corn. Happy eating!
Dylan and Harmony, whichever of us have the time to sit down and write for a few minutes. : )
