Its that time of year already!!! We doubled our garlic crop for next year....and are trying out some different varieties. A porcelain garlic (georgian crystal), a turban style garlic (chinese purple), a creole garlic (creole red) and an artichoke type garlic (susanville) have joined the mix for next season!!!! In addition we are testing out leek and onion transplants this year. We planted 400 leek transplants a couple of weeks ago and they seem to be doing well. In addition we planted a ton of onion transplants for next years onion crop (yellow, white and red varieties).
We also planted another round of sunchokes (a.k.a. jersusalem artichokes). We threw in about double what we had last year. These should be ready some time in mid summer (July or August).
We continue to sow crops in the beds although the outside sowings will be coming to an end soon (within a month or so)......but the high tunnel is officially finished and we will begin sowing the high tunnel hopefully this weekend!!!!! Can't wait to experiment with the latest addition to 47 Daisies!
--Happy Fall.....Pray we start getting some rain soon!!
Dylan and Harmony, whichever of us have the time to sit down and write for a few minutes. : )
