We planted out the pepper plants over the last week and ended up with about 250 plants in the ground. We are growing some of the traditional varieties and some that are new and experimental. 123 of the plants are some form of "hot" pepper including.....early jalapeno, long red, fish, czech black, boldog hungarian, pepproncini....some of these varieties are hot, hot, hot and some are very mild. Czech black (one I am very excited about) is milder than a jalapeno and almost jet black in color!! Fish peppers are an endangered heirloom variety that we are helping keep around!
Even more exciting than the hot peppers are the multitude of varieties of sweet peppers.......chocolate sweet, purple beauty, king of the north, revolution, flavorburst, sweet banana and valencia to name a few. We love peppers here at 47 Daisies. During the pepper season we throw peppers into everything....salads, stirfries, baked dishes, salsas etc.....and of course tons of them are eaten raw straight off the plant.
I for one can't wait for some fresh salsa.......I can taste it!!!
Dylan and Harmony, whichever of us have the time to sit down and write for a few minutes. : )
