We've had a couple rainy days here, which is so unusual lately. We took full advantage and got some things done that have been on our "to do" list for quite awhile! It was great!! We crushed a lot of our dried basil and made a bunch of pesto to freeze, for starters. Basil is one of our favorite herbs and we love having dried basil and pesto frozen in abundance for the dormant season. We love pesto pizza on Friday nights, as well as pesto on pasta. Dried basil is great in almost any Italian dish, but we also love it sprinkled on homemade mac and cheese, and garlic bread. Yum.
Kade (our 10 year old son) also had a good time placing containers around the barn floor to catch the rain water. There were quite a few places for him to do this. We enjoyed listening to the drops of water dripping in the jars. He was so excited he went to the barn first thing this morning to see how much water he caught. Unfortunately, it was not as much as we'd like to have seen, but we're not complaining! :)
In addition to those things, we also got to have some much needed family time. We watched a movie 2 days in a row (amazing!!!) and Kade made a great dessert for us tonight. It's been great, but I have a feeling we're getting a little taste of cabin fever...so the rain ending tonight and tomorrow is probably a good thing for our sanity.
Now if we could only get a couple of these a month, it'd be just perfect. :)
Dylan and Harmony, whichever of us have the time to sit down and write for a few minutes. : )
